World of Warcraft brings Cataclysm Classic – the reason for this is simple: you just don't listen to the screamers who always think everything is stupid.
For some it was a reason for joy, for others it was a bit of a shock. The next expansion for World of Warcraft Classic will be Cataclysm. Cataclysm still has the reputation among some players of having heralded the downfall of WoW. But this obviously cannot be proven with data. Because Blizzard asked the fans and they are really keen on Cataclysm.
Where does the information come from? In an interview with PCGamesN Holly Longdale from the WoW Classic team spoke about the release of Cataclysm and some of the fears of the developers and players.

What was said? Before deciding on Cataclysm Classic, the community was surveyed, according to Longdale:
Blizzard keeps sending out surveys about its games and the feedback from these surveys is apparently actually used. Longdale does mention that some players still have a "bad aftertaste" of Cataclysm when they think about the length of the expansion and some other circumstances.
However, the return of Cataclysm does not mean that the game will be 1:1 again like it was back then. The Classic team has been working on some changes for years, which are often discussed and criticized under "#SomeChanges". The majority of the changes are well received in the long term, even if there were exceptions such as the introduction of the WoW brand in Wrath of the Lich King.
One of the changes will be that Cataclysm will run much faster than it did back then:
In comparison, Cataclysm received its patches over the course of 18 months and the next expansion "Mists of Pandaria" was only released after around 22 months.
However, the results of the survey were particularly important for the decision. According to them, Cataclysm had some of the "best raids in the history of WoW" and especially in the area of endgame content, the developers found in the survey that there was "virtually nothing that the players didn't like. Even the classes – we thought we would get unpleasant feedback, but that wasn't the case."
Longdale suspects that they simply allowed themselves to be unsettled by a loud minority – or as she describes it:
Sometimes it just seems wise not to listen to the loud minority in the forum.
Are you looking forward to WoW Cataclysm Classic? Or don't you like the game?
